8 Best Cities to Explore by Bus

There are several ways to explore the world’s greatest cities. Some of them can be done on foot while others are ideal by car or train services. However, if you do a bit of researching you’ll find that the best way to see the sites in some locations is by public bus.
If you do a little homework before you arrive you’ll find bus routes are ideal for the following cities.

1. Budapest, Hungary:

Budapest is sort of like a city that’s divided into two sections, one being Buda and the other being Pest. For example, the beautiful St. Stephen’s Cathedral sits in Pest and Castle Hill is in Buda. When combined, they form the magnificent capital of Hungary.
You can get from Buda to Pest and vice versa by crossing the mighty Danube River via the Chain Bridge. You’ll be able to visit the Royal Palace, which houses several interesting museums as well as the Matthias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion.

2. Paris, France:

One of the best places to start a bus tour in Paris is at Porte d’Orléans. This is a historic section of the city as it’s where allied tanks rolled into Paris back in 1944 to liberate it. You can then pass by the colourful Luxembourg Gardens and make your way through the old Latin Quarter.
After this you’ll cross the peaceful River Seine and make your way to Notre-Dame Cathedral. Along the way you’ll see the Gothic tower of Saint-Jacques. You’ll continue past the gorgeous Pompidou Arts Center before finishing up at Gare du Nord train station.

3. Rome, Italy:

A bus trip in Rome will let you see the right bank of the Tiber River. There are ancient Roman baths here and the route goes past many historical sites including the Trevi Fountain, Capitoline Hill, the Colosseum, Circus Maximus, and the Forum. All of the major attractions can be sign if you can find the right bus.

4. Madrid, Spain:

One of Madrid’s best bus routes leaves from the Puerta de Europa, which is known as the gateway of Europe. You’ll head through the middle of Columbus Square and then go by the goddess of fertility Cybele. You’ll see several fountains, gardens and art galleries before winding up in the city’s commercial center.

5. London, England:

What better way to buzz around and explore London than by a red double-decker bus. If you start out at the famous Trafalgar Square, which is where you’ll find Admiral Nelson’s Column, and head along the Strand you’ll pass St. Paul’s Cathedral, the site of many royal weddings.
When you reach Monument, you’ll see the world’s highest stone column. This is where London’s Great Fire was started way back in 1666. You can then finish your trip at the eerie Tower of London.

6. New York City, New York, USA:

The best trip starts in Harlem, where you’ll witness the interesting African-American culture. You can get a bus that takes you through Central Park over to Fifth Avenue. You’ll go down Broadway where all of the famous theaters are and pass through Greenwich Village as well as Little Italy.
You’ll be heading south, so you can get off at Whitehall Terminal, which is where you can catch the Staten Island Ferry. The ferry will provide you with amazing views of Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan, and the Statue of Liberty.

7. Moscow, Russia:

You can begin a trip at Victory Park. This is where Soviet victories of World War II are celebrated. You’ll pass by the grand triumphal arch which commemorates the nation’s triumph against France’s Napoleon.
The bus continues past the university and Hotel Ukraina as well as monumental skyscrapers. After you pass the Sparrow Hills you can finish the trip at Kamenny Bridge which sits in the shadows of the Red Square’s St. Basil’s Cathedral and its domes.

8. Stockholm, Sweden:

Sweden’s most beautiful city is constructed on 14 islands. If you grab a bus you’ll be able to explore the ancient medieval in the beautiful Old Town section. You’ll pass by the royal palace and cathedral and then along the waterfront. The bus will head north and pass the town hall. This is where the Nobel prizes are handed out. The trip ends at the University Hospital.
